Details:

Whereas, Water Operators are essential to provide long-term, sustainable access to safe and reliable drinking water in our communities; and 

Whereas, their work is vital to ensure safe monitoring of the operation of water systems and facilities, conducting routine maintenance, adjusting treatment processes, identifying and addressing equipment issues, ensuring that the water quality meets or exceeds legislative guidelines and ensuring distribution of clean, safe and reliable drinking water; and

Whereas, Wastewater Operators are essential to provide residents with the monitoring and safe treatment of wastewater; and

Whereas, their work is vital to ensure reliable wastewater conveyance and treatment by operating wastewater facilities and equipment to purify and treat waste water and to dispose of sewage by cleaning and maintaining collections systems, facilities, equipment, tanks, filter beds and other work areas; 

Now, Therefore, I Olena Hankivsky, Mayor of the Municipality of Port Hope do hereby proclaim October 23^rd, 2025 as Water & Wastewater Operator Appreciation Day within the Municipality of Port Hope.
