Proclamation
Details:
Whereas National AccessAbility Week (NAAW), established by the Government of Canada, is an annual opportunity for communities across the country to promote inclusion, accessibility, and the removal of barriers that prevent the full participation of persons with disabilities; and
Whereas people with disabilities continue to face barriers to information, facilities, services, transportation, employment, education, and communication supports, which significantly limit their engagement in community life; and
Whereas the Municipality of Port Hope recognizes the importance of fostering an inclusive, accessible, and barrier‑free community where all individuals—regardless of ability—can participate fully, independently, and with dignity; and
Whereas the Municipality remains committed to improvement in accessibility through its policies, programs, facilities, and services, and acknowledges the vital role of accessibility in supporting a strong, diverse, and thriving community; and
Whereas the observance of National AccessAbility Week calls upon all of us to work together to advance accessibility and inclusion;
Now, Therefore, I Olena Hankivsky, Mayor of the Municipality of Port Hope do hereby proclaim May 24-30, 2026 as National AccessAbility Week in the Municipality of Port Hope.
