The Port Hope Firefighters are hosting a fundraising car wash and food drive on Saturday, October 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 115 Toronto Road. Minimum $5 donation to raise funds for mechanical repairs to the antique 1929 Bickle fire truck. This was the first fire truck obtained by the Port Hope Extinguisher Company and was put into service in 1930 to replace the horse drawn fire wagons used since 1834. The Bickle is on display at the Ontario Street Firehall and has been used over the past 40 years for parades, weddings, graduations, and antique fire truck musters. The repairs are necessary for the Bickle to continue in this role. Cash only please, we appreciate any support.
