Event Details:

Residents are invited to participate in drop-in engagement sessions where they can share their feedback on the current Ward Boundary and Council Composition Review.

As part of the first round of engagement for this project, staff and the consultant have planned various in-person sessions to provide the community with ample ways to participate. Whether you’re curious about how ward boundaries are drawn, what Council representation could look like in the future, or simply want to stay informed, these sessions are a great opportunity to get involved and help ensure that our local government reflects the needs of our growing community. Upcoming sessions include:

  • Wednesday, September 17, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Canton Community Hub (5325 County Rd 10)
  • Thursday, September 18, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Port Hope Public Library (31 Queen Street)
  • Thursday, September 18, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Jack Burger Sports Complex (60 Highland Drive)

At these sessions, residents will have the opportunity to meet directly with the consultants leading the review, ask questions, and share their perspective. Attendees can explore detailed information boards that explain the purpose of the review, the options being considered, and how potential changes could shape the way residents are represented on Council. The consultants will be on hand to explain the process, answer questions, and gather feedback .

The review includes extensive public consultation and engagement opportunities at various stages throughout the review process. Currently, in this first stage, residents are invited to provide feedback on both the current ward boundaries and the overall Council composition. Key considerations in the process include population size, geography, community history, community interests, and minority representation. Later, residents will be invited once again to provide their comments and considerations on any recommended options related to ward boundaries and Council composition.

Additional details about the project, and in-person sessions, including dates and times are available on the engagement project page.

An online survey is also available for those who wish to provide their feedback virtually.
