Volunteer Week
April 19-25, 2026
Whereas National Volunteer Week is a time for communities across Canada to celebrate and recognize the profound contributions volunteers make every day; and
Whereas volunteers across Canada represent a powerful force of compassion, connection, and positive change, with nearly 13 million Canadians volunteering each year, supporting community well‑being, social cohesion, and resilience; and
Whereas volunteerism strengthens the very fabric of communities, including right here in Port Hope, by supporting vital services, fostering belonging, and inspiring others to engage in meaningful community action; and
Whereas the Municipality of Port Hope is strengthened by the dedication of those who enrich community life in countless ways including participating in municipal boards and advisory committees, leading youth or senior targeted programming, participating in local events and working with community organizations; and
Whereas the Municipality of Port Hope recognizes and honours the dedication, generosity, and spirit of all volunteers whose efforts strengthen our community, enhance quality of life, and help address local needs;
Now, Therefore, I Olena Hankivsky, Mayor of the Municipality of Port Hope do hereby proclaim the week of April 19-25, 2026 as Volunteer Week in the Municipality of Port Hope.
