Whereas, the Municipality of Port Hope recognizes the essential role that arts and creativity play in fostering a vibrant, connected, and expressive community; and
Whereas, Port Hope’s creative community—made up of artists, makers, performers, cultural organizations, and creative entrepreneurs—enriches our shared experience, strengthens our cultural identity, and fuels innovation and prosperity; and
Whereas, artistic expression fosters creativity, curiosity, learning, and connection, offering meaningful opportunities for individuals of all ages and backgrounds to explore ideas, share stories, and engage with one another; and
Whereas, the month of August provides a special opportunity to celebrate and amplify the impact of the arts in daily life, encouraging residents, organizations, and businesses to join in creative experiences that inspire, educate, and strengthen community bonds; and
Whereas, Arts Month extends and elevates Port Hope’s annual Arts Festival, expanding it into a month-long, community-wide celebration of creativity, culture, and imagination; and
Whereas, Arts Month presents an open invitation for the whole community to get creative, curious, and expressive by participating in artistic activities, supporting local creators, and embracing the joy and vitality that the arts bring to Port Hope;
Now, Therefore, I Olena Hankivsky, Mayor of the Municipality of Port Hope do hereby proclaim the month of August 2026 as Arts Month in the Municipality of Port Hope.
