Whereas World Inclusion Day is observed annually on October 10 to celebrate differences and promote inclusion as a way of life in which all people are valued, recognized, and accepted for who they are; and
Whereas World Inclusion Day emphasizes that inclusion is not limited to disability, but spans race, gender, gender identity, religion, socioeconomic background, sexual identity, culture, and lived experiences; and
Whereas the day invites individuals, schools, workplaces, organizations, and neighborhoods to choose to include by listening to diverse perspectives, amplifying underrepresented voices, and creating spaces of welcome and belonging; and
Whereas the Municipality of Port Hope encourages everyone to not only demonstrate respect for the abilities, beliefs, backgrounds, cultures and experiences of those around them but to engage with those diverse perspectives so that all feel accepted for who they are; and
Whereas Inclusion gives us the opportunity to create a more kind, accepting, respectful, and unified world;
Now, Therefore, I Olena Hankivsky, Mayor of the Municipality of Port Hope do hereby proclaim October 10th, 2026 as World Inclusion Day in the Municipality of Port Hope.
