In observance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we invite you to join us at the Capitol Theatre for a special screening of Gord Downie's The Secret Path.

The Secret Path is a powerful Canadian documentary and animated film project created by Gord Downie that tells the story of Chanie Wenjack, a 12-year-old Anishinaabe boy who died in 1966 while attempting to walk hundreds of kilometres home after escaping from a residential school in northern Ontario. Through music, animation, and storytelling, the film follows Chanie’s tragic journey and highlights the devastating impacts of Canada’s residential school system on Indigenous children and families.

The one-hour screening will be followed by a special guest panel discussion including:

• Marsha Smoke, Southeast Regional Chief, Anishinabek Nation
• Dr. Hayden King, Yellowhead Institute
• Chief Taynar Simpson, Alderville First Nation

Admission is free. Donations are gratefully shared between:

• Aron Indigenous Circle, Campbellford
• Past Time, a legacy project in honour of Indian Residential School Survivor Stephen Pashagumskum
